McDonald's using creative brand recognition with FarmVille

While looking into creative advertising recently, I began to think that it all relates to technology and new media. As technology and new media, as well as social media, is booming, why would anyone not relate and intertwine the two? As we see crazy commercials promoting products, as well as product placement within different types of media, I personally don’t think creative advertising will make any tangent turns away from new media. The main question is, how can a company stand out with their advertising?
One way to stand out, obviously, is trying something no other company has done. This is why McDonalds decided to promote their brand on the FarmVille social gaming platform. This, I would not and did not expect. An article from Vatornews, called  "McDonald's promotes brand on FarmVille farm" says it all. Specifically, McDonald’s is taking the social media, along with new media route in order to catch the attention and brand recognition of McDonald’s. With 215 million gamers using these social gaming platforms, I think McDonald’s made a good move.
